EWP Yellow Card
There is no specific licence required to operate our EWP Equipment that have a capacity up to 11 metres from the ground to the bottom of the platform when the boom lift is fully extended. However all states of Australia have statutory legislation requiring employers and operators to prove that they have been trained in the operation of the equipment
The legislation clearly states that there is a ‘duty of care’ to ensure workplace safety. Employers must:-
- Provide information, instructions, training and supervision necessary to ensure the health and safety of employers at work
- Co-operate with efforts to comply with employers.
This means that all parties must have written proof in place that demonstrates the requirement of ‘duty of care’ has been met. The EWP industry does this through the Elevating Work Platform Association of Australia’s Yellow Card acreditation process. Penalties for non compliance can be over one million dollars as well as a five year jail term.
The Elevated Work Platform Association (EWPA) “Yellow Card” proves that the operator has had training on this equipment.
